The best part about this set is that the tiles are full height and width, so they're easy-to-read. Yes, they are thinner than standard tiles, which can make them a bit harder to manipulate if you've got big hands, but the lower weight and volume make it worthwhile.
The racks are long enough to accommodate 17 tiles. I like to travel light, so I didn't bring any racks with me on my last trip. I just brought the tiles, and packed them in a zippered bag from my husband's razor. When playing with other people, we just improvised ways to keep our tiles private, and I probably would bring the racks on my next trip.
If you don't want to pay for a full-size mahj set, this would certainly make a reasonable alternative.

Keep in mind, this is a travel set - I saw a review that I think forgot that detail. No complaints. Beautiful pieces, normal size height and width, the depth is thinner as this is a travel set. Long trays, enough for 17 tiles.

I bought this set as a gift for a friend. She loves it. The tiles are very readable and they are deliberately thin to reduce the overall weight of the set. This was an important fact since she travels and weight is an issue. The racks are a perfect size and fits all fourteen tiles with space to arrange sets. The only negative is that the case is difficult to snap close but the handle draws though the flap so it keeps the case closed when carrying. Overall a great buy for an excellent price.

This set is good because the faces of the tiles are regular size. However, they are thin and a little difficult to shuffle and stack.

I found this set to be ok to play with. The tiles were thin and light, but I felt the set on a whole to still be a little heavier than I would have liked for travel. It does come in a very nice case.
