 Great Sound PuzzleMay 05, 2010
Unlike some sound puzzles, this has great sound quality. It doesn't matter what order you do this puzzle in, the train sound still occurs with the placement of the last piece. I would recommend this to any train or puzzle lover. It is great for all young children in my opinion. The best part is that the sounds are realistic.

This puzzle is awful. First of all the back part of the train is the same color and style asthe puzzle pieces so it's very difficult to SEE as you're putting it together. it would have been much better had the background been sligtly off in color, and faded perhaps. The choo choo sound is barely audible and for about 5 seconds. by the time you realize what you're hearing the sound is gone!
my son LOVES trains. He's 2 and his first word in the morning and his last word at night is choo choo, or Toby (as in thomas and the Tank Engine) and he wasn't excited at all about this toy. I thought maybe he'd get used to it and come around but no, it's not something he wants to play with at all.
Give this a miss. It's so not worth it!
EDIT: Over time my son has come to enjoy this toy. It's unique, he smiles when he's able to put it together and he generally enjoys it. I still think it could be better but it's not as dire as my above review first describes.

This puzzle is great fun. I wish the sound was a little louder but you can hear the train sound in a quiet environment.
Cool puzzle with soundAug 21, 2009
Very neat puzzle, well crafted pieces and beautiful artwork. The sound feature is a bit erratic though. Not sure when it's supposed to make the sounds, it works randomly, and was even making sound while not being played with at random intervals. Still a cool puzzle though.

This is a very good quality wooden puzzle...it would take quite a bit of chewing, throwing, and jumping up and down on to break it. (Ours is still in good condition.)
As far as the "random" choo-choo's go - the sound is light activated; when the lights go out (as in, when all the puzzle pieces are put into place), it makes a choo-choo sound.
The only criticism for this is that the "recommended age" could probably be lowered to 2 or 2.5 years old. Our 3 year old loses interest quite quickly, and he loves trains (and liked simple puzzles like this about 6-12 months ago.) He still enjoys the CHOOOOCHOOOO sound of this puzzle, though.
