 My kiddo loves this...surprise!Nov 06, 2010

I got this for my son's 2nd birthday - mostly b/c he has a basketful of trucks, cars and I just wanted him to learn to be organized (sounds twisted and self serving). I got this for him b/c he has 12 chuck and friends trucks (as of today), and this thing holds 11, which would keep all his tonka trucks in 1 container (vs being scattered all over the floor or mixed up with his other toys). Perfect right? I had no intention of him wanting to play with this, but just an easier way for him to bring his chucks if he wanted to. Why the surprise?
1 - this can actually fit all 12 of the chuck and friends, and i don't have to set it in any special way. Just give the 12 chucks to my 2 year old and he chucks them in. Ha.
2 - he actually likes this toy?!?!? Um, weird b/c it really doesn't do anything. It's just a giant carrier for smaller trucks. He LOVES lifting the flap, dumping the chucks out, closes the lid, pushing the carrier back and forth, putting the chucks in, closes the lid (repeat - for about 30 minutes).
Today we were heading out and I told him he could take 1 toy, smarty pants wanted to take the carrier. He got me, it is one toy, it also happens to hold 12 chucks. He won (it's his birthday and I can't argue with that).
For the price it's cute. The toy has kept my son's attention. And back to my original request, he has 1 place to keep his chucks, so I'm really happy.
Update: in hind sight, i really wish I had take this out of the package, stuck some tonka chucks in the compartment and given it to him that way. I think it would have been way cooler - just a thought for those shopping for the upcoming holidays.

As a parent I thought this toy would be a big hit but the toddlers thought otherwise. They only played with it for a little bit then moved on to other things. It's big and has a fun lift lid in the back and one could stuff toys in it but the children just didn't seem to get it. I ended up playing with it more. My son is two so maybe 3-4 might be a better age range when the imagination really kicks in.

I've had this and other Tonka for almost a year now, and still look like new. Color didn't fade, the sound still works. My 3 kids (21 months now) likes to sit on it like they are driving it. Overal great, no complaints from us.

My son loves Rowdy The Garbage truck. He figured out it doesn't just fit miniature Tonka trucks, but socks, leaves, rocks, shreds of paper, crayons and the occasional grape or two. I have no experience raising a little girl, so I'll say, this is a great toy for my little boy.
There is educational value here: it will help his organizational skills. He loves taking things with him and always keeping it fully stashed with the above items, and yet it's still durable enough to be used like a literal garbage truck, but instead of garbage...dirt. It will help him develop tasking abilities, as I see evidence of it. Cool toy.

I got this for my 10 month old grandson for Christmas to store his other Chuck and Friends vehicles. He has always been interested in big trucks and tractors, such a boy! He loved it right away and has been literally carrying (he loves the nice big handle on top) it around with him for the past 10 months! He loves to bend over and push it on the ground and make truck sounds. He did not like it when you put anything in in at first but now he has learned in and out and I saw him putting cars inside just a few days ago! Love it! Makes my heart smile! This truck has been so durable and will give him many more hours of fun!
