| | | Description: | | Squirrels have a little body that ends in a big, bushy tail. Living alone or with friends in their drey (nest), squirrels spend most of their day finding food. Except for a mid-morning nap, squirrels are on the lookout for leaves, grass, twigs, and other items for their nest as well as nuts and seeds to eat. With bright eyes and sensitive whiskers, these rodents sharpen their senses and keep watch for predators like birds. Squirrels are very clever but they sometimes forget where they have buried their food. When the seasons change, squirrels feed on insects and caterpillars while some store food for hibernation. I gave this toy a decent educational value simply because it was well detailed and my nieces suddenly wanted to learn about squirrels too (I bought a Puma as well). I bought it as a fun decoration for a cake, expecting it to be just nice enough, but it was very high quality instead. I was pleasantly suprised.

This toy is SMALL, yes, but it is designed to capture a child's imagination, and to fit into their hands. My kids loved it precisely because it was small. If you want something bigger, go for the gray squirrel with the acorn in its mouth. That one is more than twice as large as this one.
Ours is now in a plant terrarium and is the perfect accent. We love it!

Just an FYI -- this is VERY SMALL. like palm of ur hand small. didn't realize that an i am quite disappointed.

I guess I was expecting this toy to be slightly larger than it is - especially considering the price. But I suppose it's important to be mindful of the relative sizes of the animals if you want to teach your kids about them. If the price was a little more reasonable for what I got I would be much happier.
