For 3 and a half year old up. Great, open-ended, creative building toy. Fun to do with child, or for child to work on by him or herself. You can create house structure pictured on box cover. Good price for a thoughtful B'day present.

My children have been having a blast with this set of straws. They make space ships, boats and castles. Their friends don't have this toy so for the friends its interesting to use their imaginations in this way.
I do have to admit though that I used to have a set of straw construction that I'd take babysitting when I was a teenager. The kids loved to use that set to make balls this set won't make round objects just squared objects.

My grandson received a set of the Roylco Straws and Connectors - 230 pieces for his birthday from his Aunt and Uncle. He absolutely loved building different shapes with it. As we watched him playing with it we thought he would love being able to build bigger and taller things with another set. He and his sister have spent hours playing with it. So we decided to order a set for him to double the amount of pieces for one of his holiday gifts. Wow..did he love getting another set! When he opened the package he was so excited and immediately began playing with both sets with his grandfather. This is an exciting and creative toy that can carry a child thru several years of play. What a unique idea. It's great. I am so glad that we found it on Amazon.com as we had no idea where his Aunt and Uncle had purchased the first set.

A must-have toy for boys and girlsJan 28, 2010

My 4 and 7 year olds have played with these far more than any other toy and have built very cool structures. I gave them to my niece and nephew (3 and 5) and they have enjoyed them (as did their dad)! Get a set or two. We now have the 230 piece set and the 700 piece set. Enjoy!
