my 5YO son loves itJan 27, 2010
By K. Gilge I was disappointed at first when a wing fell off, then noticed this was not a problem. A square peg at the base of the wing fits in a square hole at the dragon's shoulder. I'm sure the manufacturer's reason was ease of production (molded in more than one part), but it turns out to be a good thing for product durability: With such a small contact point the wings are bound to come off eventually. This way they can be reattached with just a little glue. Good as new!
My five year old son loves to build castles with his wooden blocks, to imagine battles with his toy knights and dragons. (This dragon is often involved in battle with the Safari LTD Green Dragon.) It has held up to active play and bulk storage. Most importantly, my son PLAYS with it.

Great for pretend playNov 10, 2010

I bought this dragon to go with the Melissa and Doug castle since it didnt come with one. i was worried that it would be too big to play with it. It is a nice size, not too big and not too small. It is very durable- lasted through both my girls- 3 and 1, and our 4 month old puppy who got a hold of it.

Detailed, Realistic Red Dragon Fun!Jan 05, 2012

This is one of many hand-painted authentic replicas and a collector's item as well as a toy. Obviously the Red Dragon (collector's number 60459) cannot exactly be an authentic replica as it doesn't really exist - sorry kids - but much of their other replicas are based on the real thing and are carefully sculpted by experts who thoroughly research the anatomy of each animal to ensure accuracy of detail. An excellent example of this has been the close collaboration since 1986 between the paleontologists of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA and the sculptors when it comes to their dinosaur range. Because of this they are actually very educational and the company that makes them have made a commitment of educating children about the earth and its inhabitants. All their products are safety tested for lead and phthalates under stringent third party guidelines that meet both US and European standards.
The Red Dragon itself demands attention and respect. It is very detailed right down to one broken horn and an evil glint in his eye and a great addition to my fantasy collection. Very suitable for kids, safe, educational and bound to encourage imaginative play, which could open up a whole world of possibilities for your children. I will certainly be looking out for more of these. I must thank my friend for sending me this. I'm absolutely delighted with it.
In addition, 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. According to the Chinese zodiac year of which the dragon is the only animal that is not real, this in Chinese astrology is what makes the dragon quite special and very much revered. It is powerful and wise, just as those born during this period are also meant to be.

OK as a stand-in villainJul 06, 2008
By Knight Owl I got this for an accessory to my kid's castle playset. It's of decent quality for the money, though I'm not sure the wings are attached well enough for rough play. If my kid (2 yrs) got the urge to pull or twist hard on the wings, I think they would break. Regardless, it makes for a nice villain and he likes to pretend it's flying over his castle, or to pose/sit a small action figure on its back.
GOOD TOY, BUT NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMERJan 02, 2012
By Leanne A. Brill I ordered this toy at the beginning of December. They came back and said its out of stock and could take up to two weeks to be back in stock. I said I'll wait then, but need it by Christmas. I received an email on Dec 13th saying its been shipped. I didnt get it till December 27th!!! They can only refund my shipping charge of 5 dollars. Not happy with the seller. Wont buy from them again. On another note, the toy is durable and cool. Its small and simple. Wish it was a little bigger, but w/e.
