4Great for younger kids tooJan 11, 2007
By LimeyPgh
My Mom insisted on buying this for my 1 year old twins even though it suggests that it is suitable for 3 years and up. Well, they love it. They hammer on it, stand on it and pull it over. It is very robust. It is sufficiently in tune to play your favorite songs and comes with a handy little song book (probably more use to a 3 year old than my 1 year olds).

5Great First Piano!!!Nov 11, 2005
By Fred from DC
We got this piano for our two boys (4 & 2-1/2) to help them begin to learn how to play music. This piano makes it so easy for them with the colored key code that fits above the keys so that they can follow along with the music book. The look on their faces as they play (and sing along) with the songs is absolutely adorable!

For us, we found the sound of the piano to be fine - no issues. One nice thing is that it's just loud enough...if you know what I mean. This keeps them occupied for hours on end.

Five stars for this purchase - you won't be disappointed with this piano...and your kids will love it!!!

5Wonderful Toy...Feb 14, 2007
By Rosa
I purchased this piano for my one-year-old niece, who loves music. It has quickly become one of her favorite toys, which will no doubt provide entertainment for her for years to come.
The bright colors are adorable and the sound quality is pretty darn good for a toy. Highly recommend!

1This toy is not built well.Mar 18, 2009
By C.Miller "Mother-of-Four"
When I first got this piano, the thing that bothered me was that the notes at the top of the keys is just a sheet of paper, barely glued on. I didn't know it was like this till a one-year old started picking at it, when I discovered it's only tacked by glue at either end. So, with a paintbrush, I glued it in and there it stayed. Then today, the whole thing fell apart when my tweenage son picked it up to move it. Keys, panels and everything just fell apart when it was picked up - it's as if the glue gave out. It's just not made well. It's glued together with pegs. Melissa and Doug, you've disappointed me. I paid full-price for this item, and didn't mind because of the M&D brand name and thought we'd have it for years. We've had it for less than 6 months. I see it is now about 22 dollars less...

5Just a tip...Apr 16, 2010
By M. Pizzullo "Sonuvspam"
I checked this thing out in a toy store...Didnt buy it yet only because the kid's not even born. I do plan to encourage music so I'm looking at whats out there. This one seems like a good choice. Its colorful, but not overstimulating...as one reviewer said of another toy, " it doesn't scream cheap plastic kids toy" which you may or may not find important. I do, because I wonder if most kids (or even some adults) even know what wood is anymore.

Why I think this one is better. It's wood, it's heavy (compared to the plastic ones) and it acts like a real piano, which is what you want from a toy like this. Others I've seen seem to do everything EXCEPT act like a piano. There are no batteries, and doesnt blast annoying electronic tunes at the touch of any random key. One key, one note, and the kid has to work for the song. Too many toys today do everything for the kids. I'll still get some electronic toys, and even one of the annoying electronic pianos, but lets face it, the more a toy entertains, the less it can teach.

On to my big tip...i see alot of reviewers complaining about the screws falling out. from the one i saw, it looks like a possibility, but no sign of it on that particular one. But if it DOES happen, just put the screw back in with a drop of elmers glue on the threads and get over it. It's nontoxic, and, frankly, if your child is more interested in licking glue out of the screw holes than experimenting with the sounds then you are probably not raising a musical prodigy anyway. Try some chef toys instead.
