great building experienceNov 04, 2007

This is from a mom's point of view. First of all, the box is fairly sturdy for cardboard and comes with a plastic insert that sorts and holds the pieces. This made the construction process more enjoyable. My almost 13-year old built the model with no adult assistance and minimal frustration. There were basically exactly the right number of pieces- about a dozen small pieces left over. Since many of the pieces are the new micro-sized knex, this could have been a problem. The instructions were very clear. All the pieces fit nicely together. My son has had the model together for about an hour, and is still playing with it. The model is sturdy and nothing has shifted around during play (this was a problem we saw with another large construction set called Chaos Tower). There are two alternative models to build with this set also.

Wonderful that knex has made a great new coaster. With all the reviews of past ones, I was concerned that my knex guy who's 6 would be upset with it if it didn't come out right! No problems here! It's been up for about a month now and they are still turning it on every day to watch it go up the chain and down the coaster! Unbelievable and so very cool!

Love it BUT...Apr 07, 2008
By K. Onyett Mom is the builder in the family and we purchased this for our 7YO Lego/K'Nex engineer. It was definitely a grown up/child team effort - no way could he do it himself and he fairly easily assembles above age range Lego sets. Having said that, we had a great bonding experience working on it at Christmas and again over spring break took it apart and made the tower.
While we absolutely love the toy I only gave it a 3 stars overall because there are absolutely no spare parts included. It may seem harsh but realistically if you lose a few pieces - you are hosed and the toy rendered useless. Come on K'Nex! This is a $50 coaster with more than 1100 pieces that often fly off/pop open etc as the cars fly down the track (cool as it is). I'm not the only one saying it here. Can't you guys throw in a couple of spare parts to ensure we get to enjoy it for a while? Some trouble shooting/building tips would be helpful too especially in building the track. Otherwise - we love it - very cool.

By Robert Gargano My 9 year old daughter was entertained for hours assembling the first maze of pieces. She improvised a bit but I encouraged it. Great learning tool for thinking.

Hard to build, but fun!Jun 04, 2008

I'm 10 years old. It took me 3 days to build, but I was able to do it all by myself. It wasn't easy! Getting the tracks on was the hardest part. My whole family enjoyed playing with the coasters after I had it all built. We had to keep adjusting it to make the coasters go - it keeps coming loose in places.
