How to fix the problemAug 21, 2008
By Andrew Boetsch
"stylehawk"
The Velcro straps that attach the footrest to the pedals and frame were installed improperly at the factory, making it impossible to secure the footrest tightly to the bike. This could be the reason why other reviewers had serious safety issues with the footrest, which caused the pedals to lock and the bike to stop short. It took me a while to figure this out, and I had to remove the straps and reverse them, which was actually pretty simple once I realized what the problem was. Now the footrest feels very tight and secure. Also, this product is made in China, not in Germany like the trike. This product works very well once you reverse the Velcro straps, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Can be dangerous -- please be careful!Jul 30, 2008
By Oliver's mom PLEASE BE CAREFUL -- we don't want this to happen to anyone else. This product is a great idea, but our poor son was using it and got hurt. Because this footrest is just above the pedals, if a child pushes down with one foot, the bike stops short. I noticed it has also happened to reviewers of the other Kettler footrest listed on Amazon. When this happened to our boy, he was wearing the waist belt, but his head still flew forward into the handle bars. That alone would have hurt him badly, but he also had the bell mounted to he handle bars, and the bell handle went right into his head just above his eye. It missed his eye by only an inch. He was badly hurt, but it would have been far worse if his eye had been poked out. Please don't let this happen to your precious child! We removed the footrest right away and threw it out.

Great Addition to the Air NavigatorMay 10, 2010
By In Search of Value This is a great addition to our Kettler Air Navigator. My 15 month old son loves his tricycle but he's too young to pedal it so this gives him a nice place to safely rest his feet. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was much harder to put on than it needed to be. As an earlier reviewer said, it's much easier to install if you reverse the velcro before you start. Unfortunately it wasn't clear to me what this meant until I was struggling to attach backwards velcro to the underside of a tiny tricycle. I feel like it took me almost as long to put this footrest onto the bike as it did to assemble it! Now that that frustration is behind us, I absolutely love having this footrest on the bike. I would recommend this to everyone who has a Kettler bike for their 1-2 year old.

straps are backwards.Oct 02, 2009
By jptsr1 when you take the footrest out of the box the three straps are inverted. this is no doubt for ease of installing for shipping. take them out of the loops and flip them over. product works as advertised but -1 star for the straps (they should tell you in the directions) and -1 star because my kid just doesn't like it. she hates to put her feet on it and just hangs them off the side. i still keep it on because prevents her from sticking her feet in the front tire.

Great for new trike ridersJun 03, 2009
By Moraga Mom I found this footrest incredibly helpful for my son. He's new to riding a trike, and pushing him was so much harder when he kept dropping his feet to the ground. Now we just say "put your feet up" and he's ready to roll.
