Homemade Christmas presentMay 28, 2011
By mary caffey I bought this puzzle as a Christmas present for my Wayne loving husband. After putting the puzzle to gether I glued it with puzzle glue and put it in an inexpensive poster frame from walmart. The puzzle looks terrific when it is finished. It was a challenge! Took me off and on 2 weeks by myself. but I love puzzles.
John Wayne Stamp Puzzle a ChallengeMay 14, 2011

At 1,000 pieces, this is not a puzzle that one can piece together in an afternoon. Plan on setting up this puzzle on a card table because it will be a challenge to piece together, and will take some dedicated time. With 1,000 pieces, and a finish size of 20" x 27", the pieces are numreous and small. Some parts are easy, and some quite difficult (the bandanna!). The quality of the puzzle is similar to other puzzles of this price range - decent, yet not extraordinary.
This puzzle is a picture from the John Wayne US Postal Stamp published in 2004, when general postage was 37 cents a stamp. The finished product is suitable for framing. I have a poster of John Wayne's The Searchers, and plan to put this puzzle next to the poster on the den wall. If you decide to frame the puzzle don't place it on a wall that received direct sunlight or even reflected sunlight, as the puzzle color will seriously fade. (By the way, White Mountain puzzles makes a whole series of Hollywood puzzles, others being Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, and James Dean).
I like putting puzzles together as it is a neat brain exercise. Many pieces have to be reasoned out by their shapes and colors, and it takes some brain power and a lot of patience to put a 1,000 piece puzzle together. Studies show that an active brain, challenged in different ways, resists aging and perhaps Alzheimer's Disease. My dad, who lived until 89 and 1/2 years old, did a daily crossword puzzle and he was as sharp as a tack mentally until the day he died. Similarly, physical puzzles also challenge the brain in a much different yet valuable way.

By Tonia My husband frames my best puzzles. This one is finished on the dining room table, on it's way to the wall. I worked on it most mornings for around a month. The size of the face makes this a candidate for high up on a tall wall. I loved this puzzle and scored it so high because of the many levels of complication to build.
There were easy fast parts, the words and outlines.
There were many areas where with long study you could learn their colors and general placement.
And there were areas that you had to use shape recognition.
My grandchild helped at the beginning, my mom in the middle, and I teased it to the end.
I am having a hard time finding the sizes listed on the product info. This is a very large puzzle, if I had a smaller house there would be no way I would put this size of a face on a wall.

Poor Quality PuzzleOct 14, 2010
By ED78 I love puzzles and I love John Wayne. I was thrilled to find the two in one. Sadly, this product is not worth the money. The puzzle is thin cheap cardboard, the cuts are dull so that when they tried to break up the puzzle before packaging it pieces broke and tore. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING A PUZZLE FROM WHITE MOUNTAIN!
