My older son received this as a gift from his grandmother a couple of years ago. Lincoln Logs are a great gift, but this particular set (and similar ones) has a few problems. There are very few pieces in this set-- only enough for one building. Also, like the other reviewer said, they are mostly the shorter ones, which limits the type of building (and hence the creativity). Also, the plastic pieces bother me-- for me, this is contrary to the whole idea of "Lincoln Logs". Though they are much more expensive, my suggestion would be to buy a much larger set with no plastic pieces-- they allow more creativity, more flexibility and they do last a long time. This is what I've since done, and my sons enjoy them.

My two-year old granddaughter plays with this set whenever she visits. She says, "Build something, Grandpa". She knocks it down, and we start over. It is a good starter set of Lincoln Logs.

Great classic toy but most pieces are tiny.Jan 24, 2009
I loved Lincoln Logs as a kid. While these are the same quality I remember growing up with, I have to say I was disappointed with the variety of pieces that come in this pacakge. Most of them are the smallest size which are difficult for my kids to work with. If you look closely at the picture you can see what I mean.
