Family Fun GameDec 11, 2010

I was introduced to this game at a friends house during a party in which 7 of us played the game. We started out slow and the beginners were paired up so that we could help each other monitor our cards and the cards in the playing area. The "old pros" were really quick even with two sets of eyes watching and moving cards they had us whooped. As a side note, pairing-up would be the best way to get younger kids involved in the game. After we got the hang of it we were able to play on our own.
To play additional people you just need another set of cards... One box of cards only has 4 decks. My friends, who have played this game since they were kids, had another box of cards in which they had marked the back of each card to identify they belong to another deck. My friends just put a big slash through the graphic on each card.
I tried playing with only three people and the game seems to stall more often. To get the game going again we would shuffle our "wood" pile at the same time and that seemed to get it moving again. I didn't see anything in the directions about the game stalling so we just made up our own. So I recommend having at least four players or having a system in place to get the game moving again.

Dutch Blitz is challenging and fun. I cannot get enough of this game! I have been playing it steady for the last several years, and I never get sick of it! I keep a deck of cards in my car at all times, and I pack at least one deck on all my trips. I went through and starred all the cards in one deck so we can play with eight people (or sixteen doing teams). It gets chaotic, which only adds to the fun! If I were a game, I would totally marry Dutch Blitz!

Several of my grand kids love this game so I decided to get them their own for Christmas presents. It is a great gift at a reasonable price. They will be extremely happy and now I won't have to share my set.

I love love love this game. I have to admit, I am a sucker for the speed card games, such as spit and speed, so this one is not far off. If you like these fast type games, then you will love this. I play it with my sister and parents often! So fun.
