Perfect for "highlighting" texts!Mar 10, 2009
By Chester Yee I'm not sure what you plan to use these things for, but I'll tell what it's extremely good for: highlighting text. From there, you can deduce the usefulness of this product for your own purposes. _______
It's not easy to find a good highlighter for books. Now of course, the usefulness of a highlighter is how well it highlights without affecting the readability of the text. Some are so dark that they seep right through the thin pages of my book (effectively highlighting both sides at the same time), and I've had ones that are so light that they literally dry up and disappear after several days! But these pencils show up really nicely (and unobtrusively) on the thinnest of pages, while being perfectly erasable! Now that's a quality product.
Now for me, it was very important to find this specific product, which is erasable, twistable, colored, and the fact that they're pencils.
ERASABLE: I've tried erasing, and it erases without a trace.
TWISTABLE: When you're done, you're free to twist it back in for protection.
COLORED: Allows me to color-code nicely.
PENCILS: Crayons wouldn't have fit my purposes. I suppose crayons would be more useful for filling up large areas with color.
I've seen many variations of the product, so precisely pick the attributes you need.
I paid exactly $10.51 (after shipping and everything). I guess it was a bit on the expensive side for a dozen pencils, but I feel no regret.

great productSep 12, 2010

I use these pencils to mark in my Bible. I've tried dry markers (not dark enough; too pale) and highlighters (bleed through). These are colored pencils that you don't have to sharpen. You can make the marking as light or dark as you want, depending upon how hard you press and how many times you mark over an area. The color does not bleed through. They twist back up inside when you're done. They are perfect for what I need. I wish I had tried them sooner.

Great School ItemAug 13, 2009

These are so great for kids. Because you just twist them, there is no getting up and running to the sharpener during a project. Wonderful item!

as advertised, erases very cleanlyJul 20, 2011
By memling I use erasable colored pencils frequently for my work (comparing several elements of a data set among several different lists) and was pleased to find retractable erasable colored pencils, as frequent sharpening had become onerous. The best feature of these pencils is the very clean erasing. No "ghost" of the pencil mark and no unsightly eraser smudges or "crumbs". I was a teensy bit disappointed by the less-than-fine circumference of the colored pencil leads...while these eliminate the need for sharpening, one also never gets that "super-sharp" fine point of a freshly sharpened pencil (or a fine point retractable). A mechanical pencil lead is generally .5mm - .7mm and these are 3.3mm - while the Amazon listing does not specify the lead size (other retailers and crayola.com do), it does say "school grade" which should be some indication that these are not for detailed, precision tasks. They suit my needs fine (while I personally prefer a finer point, it is not necessary for what I do) and I would recommend them readily with the caveat to consider the large size of the leads.

Erasable Colored Pencils Concept...Sep 15, 2010
By angiev I was intrigued by the idea of erasable colored pencils. I've never used them before. They do actually erase really well. However the coloring appears a little different than traditional color pencils. It looks a little more waxy when you color with these (versus non-erase colored pencils).
I am happy with the purchase and it did suit my needs. But just be aware that in order to get the erase function you sacrifice a bit of the color look.
