Old Time JacksFeb 17, 2007

Did you jacks as a child? This set of jacks is keepsake quality. The metal jacks have substance. They come in a nice metal box with a retro look and come with two real old style rubber balls.
And in case your memory is short on details, there is a 20 page handbook! We bought two sets and are buying 3 more as gifts for other closet jacks enthusiasts.

got exactly what i ordered, as described. but i should have read a little closer to notice that, although these are just like the metal jacks we played as kids, they are too large to re-create the challenge of playing like back-n-the-day.

Excellent quality!!!Jan 07, 2008
By Pat These jack sets are wonderful - they are made of metal (5 gold toned and 5 silver toned) and are like the ones you used as a child. Once I introduced the concept of "onesies" to my 7 year old daughters - they practiced for over an hour to hone their skills. Teaches great hand eye coordination. Direction booklet is colorful, well detailed and has a wealth of information regarding games to play with jacks. I highly recommend this product if for no other reason than the company is so helpful. Our puppy chewed on the instruction booklet and the company (Channel Craft) sent a new complimentary copy.

Perfect size jacks, generously comes with two balls and instructions. Plus a very cool metal box. I don't think you can find a better set anywhere today.

BEAUTIFUL SET...WE ARE TALKING MAJOR NOSTALGIA HERE FOLKS.Oct 29, 2011
By D. Blankenship Other than genetics, an iron will and the laser like ability to focus on any task at hand, I can only attribute my uncanny eye-hand coordination and reptilian reflexes to the many hours I spent as a child playing jacks on our doorstep and in my room. Catching flies in midair with chop sticks...child's play as far as I am concerned...do it all the time just to impress the neighbors.
Just kidding folks. Actually I have the focus and attention span of a ferret after five cups of black coffee, the eye-hand coordination of a finless gold fish and my will is more like soft taffy than iron and my reflexes, rather than being reptilian, are more like that of a Giant Tree Sloth. But that does not matter! I loved playing jacks as a kid and still do now that I am in my dotage! Truth be told, it does not take much to make me happy and occupy my time...ask my wife. She gets tired of fixing bowls of colored macaroni for me to string.
This is a very nice set of jacks. They are slightly larger than the ones I remember playing with as a child (we are talking the 1940s and early 1950s) but they are heaver, a bit thicker and are most certainly more attractive. This set comes with two nice little rubber balls of the size I remember, which is good because I find that I still loose the things now as I did when I was a wee one....spend more time chasing the run-a-way ball than I spend picking up the jacks...truth be told. They are quite smooth with no jagged edges from the mold like lesser jacks I have come across through the years.
The metal box these come is in great. I have my very own set (I do not share well with others...ask my first grade teacher, Miss England), and have bought several sets as gifts. (My wife made me give them away...bummer...bad as Miss England in many ways).
Tip: Do be sure to pick these things up after you finish playing with them. If you go barefooted in your home (and who doesn't?) and step on one of these little suckers in the middle of the night when you go to let the dogs out, you are in for a major owie and you may slip and say a naughty word which will get you in big time trouble...! Sigh, you think I would learn after all these years).
Been working now on my foursies and think I will have it licked in the next few weeks.
