Typical plastic soldiers with nice history lessonFeb 22, 2008

I bought this toy for my 6 year old son who loves the Revolutionary War period. We had just visited Yorktown on the anniversary of the surrender and watched a big parade, so he was excited about having the soldiers from this battle. The quality is average for these types of plastic soldiers, but the inclusion of not only British and American soldiers, but also French and Hession, provides a good history lesson. He particularly likes all the fortifications and canons that are part of the set, as well as the figures of Washington (plus horse), Cornwallis and Lafayette. He also enjoys the different poses of the soldiers. There is a brief history on the front of the box that (from what I know of it) appears to be fairly accurate. There are some screaming typos on the box - my favorite being "Frenench" on the front in bold type - so there may be some historical errors as well. All that said the most important thing is that my son loves this toy.

Share History with your ChildrenMar 25, 2008
By Grover Smith I love all the BMC sets. This set is more 1/29 - 1/24 scale. These are great plastic figures , inexpensive a real variety of figures the kind you can knock down with rubber bands or marbles or what ever ammo you choose. This set is very versatile as you can model other battles with them. You can use the British figures along with some figures for the Alamo set to recreate the Battle of New Orleans. This set has gun emplacements and mortars, complete with G. Washington and Continentals (blue), the French (white), Cornwallis and British (red). Great way to teach history and spend time with your Children. Don't forget the other battles of the War for American Independence. These figures can be used to reenact any number of Revolutionary battles and the French and Indian war also Known as the Seven Year War in Europe. They can also be used in The Napoleonic wars. you can buy extra canon sets separately and figure sets and create some really great battles and then knock them all down and set them back up .

American Revolution Play SetJan 01, 2011
By santadad I ordered this playset for my 10 year old son for Christmas. He played with it for two days and has not touched it since. The cannon wheels broke off the first time he tried to use them. Although it does contain a lot of pieces, they are not of a high quality material, more like dime store quality. The price was too high for the quality of the item received. Would not recommend purchasing this product at this price.

act out the story you've readMar 12, 2010

I am an author of children's novels about the Revolutionary War. I actually sell this set when I do booksignings at historical reenactments. It offers children the opportunity to act out what they just observed, or what they're reading, if they are reading a book like my own Patriots (for ages 10-14). Be aware, though, that the cannons that come in this set break easily. In the set, the blue are patriots, the red are british, the white are our french allies, and the black are the british allies from Germany who we called Hessians. Enjoy!
great for class projects!!Mar 24, 2012
By Claudia Johnson My son had to make a diorama for his 5th grade Social Studies class. This kit was perfect. It had every piece he needed. Other kids painted green army men to get the right soldiers. We just had to glue ours in the box and we were set to go. I would recommend this to every parent out there. I wish there were more kits for other American Revolution battles.
