More than just stringingSep 12, 2009

I bought this for my two year old and we've used it for several skills. Obviously, he does the stringing, but we've also strung it by color of cars, type of cars, and size. He loves to pretend with it around his train track. I've also seen him lining them up by size, color, and function (delivery truck, cars, etc) We continue to get lots of mileage from this toy. However, I should say my son has a passion for vehicles so this was a definite winner in our house. He wouldn't have any interest in doing such things with a regular beading set.

Perfect toy. Has bright colors, is very durable and is a good size for little hands. Love that it isn't electronic or makes noise. Educational, good for stimulating language and fine motor skills.

Great developmental toy!Aug 25, 2008
By Jen Dz. My son (who got this for his 2nd birthday) seems only interested in cars and trucks, so it's been tough to find toys that will help in his development aside from cars and trucks -- but this one has been a hit. He's definitely enjoyed learning the names of all the different vehicles and has also quickly learned how to string them on there. Great for development of some different fine motor skills.

Strong lacquer smell- really wanted to like these.Apr 30, 2011
By Jonah's Mom With J loving cars and anything that "vrooms" I knew these would be a huge hit with sneaky educational value. Upon opening the package...Whoa, smelly..in a I'm quickly made, painted, sprayed, and packaged in China sort of way. I put them up for a bit to let them "off-gas" before we played with them again. He really just drug them all over the wood floors and shrieked with joy as they snaked back and forth. The finish on the vehicles is scratched to high heaven now, which of course, he could care less, but it bothers me. Great idea, cheaply made. Wouldn't recommend. Spring for the Plan Toys lacing beads. Unfortunately, these are curbside as we speak :(

Great ToyDec 03, 2009

This was one of the presents I bought for my son's 2nd birthday. I'll admit feeling a little bad that most of the toys I got him were really homework. That turned out to be great. He loved mastering his finger skills with this toy. The wooden "needle" makes it great for a younger toddler. At this age, he also loves dragging the train of vehicles behind him, pretending it's snake, playing with the cars individually, naming and talking about the vehicles, their purpose, their colors. He's almost 2.5 now, he likes to act out scenes to go with the vehicles: eating ice cream, towing, etc. And, it fits in a smaller zip storage bag, so it's great for on the go, since you can string it on your lap, or spread the cars individually on the floor. I'm about to pack it for a trip to the hospital, and I thought I'd come on here and give it an A+ review.
The only thing is that the paint is chipping, which would be worrisome if you child still mouths toys, but for a child younger than two, you'd probably need to help anyway, so you could probably keep the toys out of the mouth.
